It’s probably been a trying day for the folks at Apple, who, while basking in the satisfaction of iPhone (

Alert) 4’s release, have had to deal with barrage of complaints about bad reception.
And now we hear that Apple CEO Steve Jobs (

“Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas,” said an
official Apple statement on Thursday. “This is a fact of life for every wireless phone.”
Apparently, bad reception “stems from holding the iPhone 4 and touching both the bottom and left portions of the wrap-around steel bezel that doubles as the phone's antenna,”
observes Adam Hadhazy, TechNewsDaily staff writer from LiveScience.com. “Forming a circuit in this way courtesy of conductive, water-logged human flesh is thought to disrupt the radio frequency signal.”
However, just “avoiding” the bottom and left portions of the phone could be a bit of a problem, as many right-handed users will want to hold the iPhone 4 in their left hands while tapping the touchscreen with their right hands.
But reception isn’t the only problem, according to news media outlets.
Some customers are charging that the screen has an unattractive yellowish tint, TMCnet reported earlier.
