IPhone -GeoVector Intros World Surfer 2 for iPhone

San Francisco-based GeoVector Corp. has announced the availability of GeoVector World Surfer 2.0 for the iPhone.

The company said that World Surfer 2 provides ease of use feature enhancements to GeoVector’s directional search and pointing application. Company officials said that their latest offering comes with time saving, convenience features such as free text search and the ability to save favorite searches.

Moreover, the company has also added camera view augmented reality to World Surfer 2 as a guidance enhancement. Company officials said that this will help users verify the distance, location and direction of their destinations.

World Surfer has been developed for compass-enabled GPS smartphones. Company officials said that it allows users to point their phones in a particular direction to search for retailers, restaurants and other points of interest.

Currently, GeoVector World Surfer is available for download from the Apple (News - Alert) iTunes App Store for customers with the iPhones, and Android Market for Android handsets.

GeoVector is an inventor and developer of mobile technology linking digital information with real-world places. It has been providing directionally filtered location browsers for mobile devices since 2006. Company officials said that they are dedicated to provide practical, useful augmented reality applications to consumers.

Augmented reality or AR solutions merger computer imagery or data with a live view of the real world and World Surfer uses AR to great effect, said company officials.

GeoVector’s World Surfer is an application that “most effectively handles local searches and provides the best walking directions,” according to augmented reality provider Gene Becker.

World Surfer 2 has been released initially for the iPhone (News - Alert) platform.
