The uMobility from Varaha (News
) is a fixed mobile convergence solution that provides seamless and automatic session handoff between WiFi wireless and all types of cellular networks, letting people use one smartphone with a single business number and one voice mailbox - for all mobile business voice communication requirements. Now, users leveraging the solution can never miss a call when away from the office desk.
This patented and a comprehensive solution ensures superior voice quality through company’s service quality aware software architecture, seamless network hand-offs and network security. It not only provides rich-set of mobile office capabilities, but also provides cost savings and enhances productivity, Varaha officials said.
Moreover, the solution also replaces weak and unreliable cellular signal experienced inside a building with the stronger and more reliable in-building WiFi signal, thereby providing complete cell phone coverage either in the office or at home, Varaha said.
In March, Varaha Systems, for the first time had announced uMobility’s support for Apple’s iPhone (News
). The initial client release for iPhone supported voice communications over 3G cellular networks, WiFi networks and Vo3G using the 3G’s data network. Apart from delivering a full suite of voice features from the network’s call manager, the uMobility iPhone client now also supports virtual private network registration.

and BlackBerry (News
) smartphones have passed the 30 percent mark and in the U.S. alone these two device families represent nearly 75 percent of all sales of smart phones. Moreover, deployments of RIM’s BlackBerry devices have increased with majority of them comprising of single mode devices, while the composite of new device sales has flipped to a strong mix of dual mode (Wi-Fi and cellular) devices.
To meet this trend Varaha also announced uMobility FMC solution support for RIM's BlackBerry. Currently, the company will support both single mode, as well as dual mode BlackBerry smartphones.
Officials with Varaha said that addition of uMobility's support for RIM's BlackBerry line will virtually support all commercially available dual mode smart phones.
By early next year, the company has plans to release the Android support, as well.
"Regardless of whether the user's BlackBerry is single or dual mode, the BlackBerry becomes a card carrying member of the enterprise's 4-digit dialing community," Ed Cox (News
