IPhone -Navmii Personal Navigation Now Compatible With iPhone

GeoLife recently announced that its personal navigation device Navmii is now available for the iPhone (News - Alert). The Navmii offers turn by turn navigation directions to users.

Using the Navmii, finding directions using the iPhone has been greatly simplified. Addresses can be looked up by city, street, house or postal code based on Navmii’s address input. Users’ favorite haunts can be added to a separate list. Users can also get access to directions for recent destinations. Once the destination address is fed into the device, Navmii determines the optimal route for the convenience of the user.

In case users miss a turn while on Navmii, the device automatically issues fresh directions and helps users get back on track. Users can also take a preview of their route before they start on their journey.

Navmii provides Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and distance to destination (DTD) during the course of the journey. While the journey is underway, the system also shows up several points of interest along the way, including nearest petrol bunks, cash points, shops, restaurants and hotels, among others.

Safety is also addressed with Navmii. The designers have incorporated cutting edge safety features into the device including the latest safety camera database and also automated alerts in case users are cruising above speed limits or approaching a safety camera.

In a release, Peter Atalla, CEO of Navmii, said the latest integration means that the solution can now be used by more than 30 million iPhone users.

“Once you buy and download Navmii that's it, no monthly charges or expensive map or software updates - just a great personal navigation experience,” he said. “Why buy an expensive sat nav system when you can download Navmii and get all the benefits of a sat nav system to your iPhone for a fraction of the cost?”

The Navmii is compatible with both the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS. It requires iPhone operating system version 3.0 and up in order to function efficiently. The device can also be used with the iPod Touch and the 1st Generation iPhone as long as they are being used with the PosiMotion G-Fi Hardware. Maps to UK destinations are currently updated in the Navmii database. All voice directions and user menus are being offered only in the English language. Navmii has an online customer forum that helps address and resolve all customer queries.
