IPhone -DeviceAnywhere Teams up with NAVTEQ to Support Development of Next-Generation Location-Enabled Solutions


DeviceAnywhere said that as part of its promise to support location-based services on mobile handsets it has teamed up with NAVTEQ (News - Alert).
 
Through this partnership, it will support the development of newer location-enabled solutions and has announced support for GPS-enabled handsets within DeviceAnywhere Test Center.
 
Under the terms of the co-marketing agreement it has signed with NAVTEQ, DeviceAnywhere will be offering five free hours of access to all registered members of the “NAVTEQ Network for Developers,” a dynamic Web portal and global community that provides developers and business partners with the technical and business support needed to build, showcase and launch the most innovative location-enabled solutions.
 
DeviceAnywhere provides convenient and cost-effective end-to-end products and services for mobile application testing, test automation, development, monitoring and certification. NAVTEQ is a provider of digital map, traffic and location data that enables navigation and location-based platforms.
 
Its DeviceAnywhere Test Center supports geographical-location emulation to drive growth, and a new new wave of location-based products. Additionally, the company has installed GPS repeaters in its U.S. data centers.  
 
DeviceAnywhere also said that it is currently supporting some of the user favorites including the Apple iPhone 3G and BlackBerry (News - Alert) Bold and added that the list of devices will grow over time as the company continues to deploy GPS in additional markets.
 
The company said that through its solutions, developers can now test on every device required for this challenge. They no longer have to have a real device in their hand, as their service has the ability to record developers’ screenshots and video right from the device and onto their desktop giving them an exact replica of how their application will respond in a real world environment without leaving their desk. As part of its partnership, DeviceAnywhere offering ten free hours access on the special 2010 LBS Package of devices so that they may be tested from anywhere in the world.
 
Marc Naddell, vice president of the Partner & Developer Program at NAVTEQ, has stated that the company is committed to supporting its developer community and easing typical developer challenges by working with other players in their field.
 
DeviceAnywhere will play a key role in allowing them to support the introduction of multiple technology and device platforms to their growing community of developers through the availability of real handsets on live networks at the touch of a button.
 
Faraz Syed (News - Alert), CEO of DeviceAnywhere, said that LBS represents one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sectors in mobile and has the potential to change the way in which people use their mobile handset, as well as creating new revenue opportunities for both developers and service providers.
 
Recently DeviceAnywhere Test Center helped Microsoft (News - Alert) in the deployment process for Windows Live for Mobile and added Google’s Android (News - Alert) to its service.
