IPhone -AT&T Releases U-verse TV Mobile Remote Access App for iPhone and iPod Touch

AT&T has released a free iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod touch application that allows U-verse subscribers control their DVR systems remotely. The app, available to users via the Apple App Store, lets them schedule and manage recordings on their DVR more easily even when they are away from home.

AT&T is a premier communications holding company.

Just with a simple touch on the U-verse icon on their iPhones and iPod Touch, users can access their Total Home DVR, view and search within channel Guide, set favorite shows & channels and much more.

Jeff Weber (News - Alert), vice president of video services for AT&T mobility and consumer markets, said that the new app is another example of AT&T bringing together services to deliver a better experience for the users. Customers can’t find these kinds of DVR capabilities from any other provider except AT&T (News - Alert) U-verse.

AT&T recently boosted the connection speed for their U-verse subscribers, together with adding more flexibility in controlling recordings and downloading movie composition and AT&T officials stated that the company had been considering developing an iPhone app for U-verse for a while now.

According to AT&T, the Mobile Remote Access App for the iPhone requires an AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet account and can be accessed via Edge, 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity. The company said that with U-verse TV and by utilizing the power of their 100 percent Internet Protocol (IP) network, the company is enhancing the customer experience to bring a competitive TV choice and integrated TV, high speed Internet, home phone and wireless services to users.

AT&T U-verse was one of the first providers to introduce Web Remote Access to the DVR in November 2006, and it brought three-screen DVR access to all U-verse TV customers with Mobile Remote Access to the DVR in April 2007. In 2008, AT&T launched AT&T U-verse Total Home DVR, allowing all U-verse DVR customers to watch standard and High Definition recorded shows from a single DVR on any connected TV in the home.

AT&T recently allowed Auto-Authentication on new iPhone OS 3.0 and had launched U-verse enhancements.
