IPhone -More than 100,000 Healthcare Professionals Use Skyscape iPhone Application


Skyscape, a provider of medical information services for mobile devices, has estimated that more than 925,000 healthcare professionals are using the company’s Skyscape medical decision support resources and tools on Apple iPhone (News - Alert). The company recorded highest rate of iPhone application adoption, ever since its latest version of the software was released.
 
First released in 2007, Skyscape’s iPhone application provides physicians and other medical professionals to have instant access to a broad collection of drug information, clinical, lab and evidence-based medical information, guidelines and medical alerts – all conveniently streamed to iPhone. Its latest release also features MedAlert service, which offers medical news, research and clinical trials updates as well as journal summaries that are categorized by specialty to mobile devices.
 
Sandeep Shah, president and CEO of Skyscape, said: “After the recent launch of our next generation app running natively on the iPhone, the user adoption has reached a record level, with over 100,000 healthcare professionals installing our software. This reflects an enormous demand for a new generation of medical information resources and decision support tools that go well beyond just the basic drug information.”
 
“During the last quarter of 2008, the rate of user adoption has doubled, as compared to any of the corresponding quarter during prior years,” added Sandeep Shah. “There were days when there were more than 8,000 download of the Skyscape iPhone application.”
 
According to Andrew Schuman, a practicing pediatrician and contributing editor of contemporary pediatrics, Skyscape has set a new standard for intuitive and user friendly medical software for the iPhone. The application is providing the doctor with trusted decision support resources at the point of care.
 
Providing personalized decision support for healthcare professional worldwide, the Skyscape application apart from Apple (News - Alert) iPhone is also available for use on RIM Blackberry, Symbian, Windows Mobile, and desktop.
 
Skyscape is a privately held company that is based in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The company claims that all its medical resources are integrated via its easy-to-use SmartLink technology, which is a cross reference with over 500 resources in 35 specialties, from initial patient interaction to diagnosis and prescribing.   
 
Skyscape iPhone application is available at Apple’s iTunes AppStore, for free of charge. Other additional resources can be purchased at company’s website.
