IPhone -iPhone to Get Internet Filtering Software

InternetSafety.com reportedly has introduced Safe Eyes Mobile, the first Internet filtering software that will help keep browsing safe for young users on a mobile device.

While the Safe Eyes Mobile browser will block pages with inappropriate online content, it will allow users full access to the rest of the Web, according to the Acworth, Georgia-based company. The product is designed for the iPhone (News - Alert), iPhone 3G and iPod Touch and does not affect the device’s performance in any noticeable manner.

Controlling Internet browsing through the iPhone is possible only by blocking Web access entirely. The wireless Media Net Parental Controls from AT&T, a product that’s available in the market, does not work on the iPhone. The Internet browsing feature of the iPhone thus exposes children to an unsavory side of the Web. Since Safe Eyes Mobile filtering is available for both the AT&T (News - Alert) cellular network and individual Wi-Fi networks to which the iPhone connects when in range, it is the ideal solution to provide safe online browsing to the young users of Apple (News - Alert) iPhone.

Safe Eyes Mobile prevents access to pages in categories such as pornography, nudity by default. The product will first check requested Web sites against a blacklist of objectionable Web addresses. This list will be updated daily and parents will also be provided with the option of configuring the software to filter sites in 31 other categories. Since the product is controlled from the Safe Eyes Web site with password-protected setup, children will not be able to override the same.

According to some surveys, nearly 8 percent of the teenagers in the United States own an iPhone. If parents need to manage their children’s Internet browsing through the iPhone, Safe Eyes Mobile is the ideal solution.

According to Aaron Kenny, the CTO of InternetSafety.com, the software will block objectionable Websites that kids try to reach. Younger users will be protected with this safety net without having to disable the Internet feature of the iPhone. InternetSafety.com provides Internet safety solutions and is a two time recipient of PC Magazine Editor’s Choice Award. The Safe Eyes software of the company has been rated as the number one parental control solution by a consumer advocacy publication in America.
