Lantronix (News - Alert), a provider of smart connectivity solutions, has just launched the new patent-pending wireless printing solution named xPrintServer for Apple devices.
According to Lantronix, xPrintServer is the first Apple iOS print server compatible with the iPad2, iPad, iPhone (News - Alert), iPod touch, and virtually any device running Apple's iOS mobile operating system.
The xPrintServer is extremely compact, roughly the size of an iPhone and uses the iOS native print menu and requires no additional applications, software downloads, or printer driver installations, according to company officials.
Printing is easy with automatic printer discovery and no-configuration options. Users simply open the box, plug the xPrintServer anywhere into the network, and print wirelessly from any iOS device running iOS version 4.2 or later to virtually any network-connected printer.
With more than 90 percent of Fortune 500 companies slated to deploy iPads by the end of 2011, this is an ideal time to expand into this market, according to Lantronix officials.
"The xPrintServer embodies our goal of leveraging Lantronix technology to serve the needs of today's growing markets," said Kurt Busch, president and CEO for Lantronix, in a statement.
"The proliferation of iPads and iPhones in the corporate world has yielded a potentially tremendous opportunity for providing an easy printing solution for enterprise-class printers, free of hassles associated with today's work-around solutions.”
The xPrintServer currently supports thousands of printer models from leading printer families including HP, Brother, Epson, Canon, Dell, Lexmark, and Xerox. The product was tested in house and at third-party testing vendors like QualityLogic (News - Alert).
The xPrintServer is available for pre-ordering now at www.store.Lantronix.com. The product will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2012, and will also be available on Amazon, NewEgg, Buy.com, and MacMall Web sites, company officials said.
Lantronix recently showcased the xPrintServer at Digital Experience on January 9, 2012, the evening prior to the 2012 International CES in Las Vegas.
In another recent development, Lantronix recently announced the expansion of its eCommerce store into Canada, Mexico and throughout Europe. Lantronix' online store reportedly offers more than 130 Lantronix products including EDS (News - Alert)-MD medical device aggregator, SLC console server and SpiderDuo KVM over IP solution.
