Diamond Dash, an arcade game on Facebook (News - Alert), is now available as a free download in the App Store.
It was revealed that Wooga, the world’s third largest developer of social games, will be offering Diamond Dash for the iPhone (News - Alert), iPod touch and iPad. When launched on Facebook over 10 million people per month were attracted to it.
The new mobile version was launched live on stage at Europe’s largest Internet conference, Le Web in Paris.
Diamond Dash is Wooga’s exciting 60-second gem rush which lets players smash as many same colored gems as possible. Players can have weekly tournaments and compete for the highest score with their friends. Top 3 players will be rewarded with the coveted gold, silver or bronze medals.
The linking of the iOS version to Facebook and automatically synchronizing both will enable weekly tournaments on multiple platforms, said officials. Diamond Dash was launched in March 2011 and is being played by more than 25 million people. Also it was honored in August 2011 with the European Games Award as best social game. It has also been named among the top 10 social games on Facebook.
In the mobile version of Diamond Dash for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, the graphics and controls will meet all the demands of mobile devices. This mobile game lets users play it and enjoy even while traveling.
The main feature of the game is automatic comparison of the score and social interaction with friends via Facebook Connect. It is available in 120 countries and in nine languages including German, Dutch, English, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish. Further the company announced that regular updates with new game content will be made continuously.
Wooga creates games optimized for Facebook and iOS. It strives to give special emphasis to emotional character development, usability, and localization in seven languages.
The company offers games for players of all ages and its free-to-play Facebook games are enjoyed by over 34 million active players per month. Also Wooga’s games generate revenue by selling interactive goods.
In August 2011 Wooga announced the release of its social game Magic Land which is available on Facebook. Its engaging story unites medieval customs and legends in a mix of role-playing, village building simulation and adventure features.
