NXP Software Launches LifeVibes CineXPlayer to Support Dolby Digital Plus Audio

Multimedia products offered by Apple (News - Alert) have always been known for the extraordinary quality of audio and visual content accessed through them. Usually, the company develops software solutions supporting its iPhone (News - Alert), iPad and iPod devices on its own, although a number of enterprises have now begun developing software applications that enrich or enhance the multimedia experience a user receives from the Apple devices.

NXP Software, a provider of enhanced software solutions for mobile multimedia, has introduced the latest version of its well known LifeVibes CineXPlayer at Apps World Europe in collaboration with Dolby Laboratories, a developer of technologies that enhance the entertainment experiences available to the users. The solutions offered by NXP Software (News - Alert) enable mobile device manufacturers and service providers to provide customers with a rich media experience. The LifeVibes portfolio of company’s software products has been installed in more than one billion mobile devices globally.

CineXPlayer 2.5, the new version of NXP Software’s application is available through the Apple App Store, and is the first iOS based video player for iPad, iPhone and iPod devices that supports Dolby Digital Plus offering a living room movie experience to the users.

“NXP Software aims to help people enjoy life to the full by delivering outstanding mobile multimedia experiences,” commented Peter Van de Berg, marketing director at NXP Software. “That vision has seen CineXPlayer become a top video player in Apple’s App Store. Many of CineXPlayer’s fans asked us to add true multi-channel sound and, working with Dolby Labs, that’s exactly what we’ve done. It brings the digital audio quality people know from the home theater to mobile devices,” added de Berg.

Enhancing the overall sound quality right from the stage of production to playback, Dolby Digital Plus offers a much better audio experience across a range of portable devices right from headphones to built-in speakers. Additionally, it is able to play discrete multichannel audio to the home theater from the smartphone, creating an HD entertainment experience.

“Dolby Digital Plus in NXP Software’s CineXPlayer allows for more high-quality entertainment across screens,” said John Couling, vice president, electronic media at Dolby Laboratories (News - Alert). “Dolby is committed to bringing a cinema-quality experience to the home on a wide range of services, devices and applications.”

With the help of CineXPlayer, users can transfer Xvid movies to their iPad, iPhone or iPod devices without having to convert the file formats. Users can also save save full movie files to the CineXPlayer app for watching them later even if they are not connected to the Internet.
