This is a major breakthrough in secure mobile payments, as up until now, users could only find products that work with the proprietary iPhone connector and had no keyboard.

This new release allows users to cost-effectively and easily make small cashless payments with Visa or MasterCard (News - Alert) via the audio interface.

KOBIL Systems claims that it is the only manufacturer in the world to offers such an audio smartphone reader with keyboard and thus meets the necessary security requirements for mobile payments.

A manufacturer of innovative technologies in the field of data security and digital identity, KOBIL Systems’ latest offering includes a KOBIL Software Development Kit (SDK), which effectively establishes individual point-to-point encryption between the KOBIL chip card reader and KOBIL SSMS Server. Each terminal can be individually identified with the KOBIL SSMS server.

Security of mobile payments is ensured through KOBIL mIDentity AST and KOBIL SSMS Server, which acts as a secure end-point to the systems of the payment provider.

KOBIL’s headphone jack chip card reader for iPhone and Android (News - Alert) with PIN-Pad is ideal for cashless payment of small amounts that can be paid by the smartphone app directly.

KOBIL Systems was in news earlier this year for receiving a prestigious trophy for its new mIDentity App Security Toolkit (mID AST), which protects mobile users against multiple security attacks.

The company received the 2012 Innovative Payments Award from Payforum in the "Mobile Payment Security" category for its mIDentity AST.
