Hone Lets You Track Your Keys via Your iOS Device

“Where are my keys?” Probably one of life’s vexing questions when you are pressed for time. Two entrepreneurs from Los Angeles seek to provide a simple solution to this age-old problem by way of a Bluetooth device and an iOS app. After a successful campaign on KickStarter, a crowd funding website for creative projects, Geoffrey Litwack and Louis Gerbarg were able to raise over $46,000 bringing their noble idea to realization.

Hone for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 3 will, however, be used for more than just finding keys. The Bluetooth device can be attached to almost anything and is perfect for those with impaired vision since it comes with customizable audible signals as well. According to Geoffrey, the Hone technology is simple and will help solve issues for every type of client. He said that the overwhelming support from the KickStarter community is a sign that the idea will gain traction.

How  is Hone expected to work? When you receive your Hone device, the gadget is attached to a key ring. You can then download and install the Hone app. The app instantly connects to your Bluetooth gadget that now acts as a dongle, letting you know the location of your keys all the time. When you happen to misplace your keys, simply tap the “Find” button and the keychain device lights up and vibrates. If you still can’t locate your keys, the built-in proximity sensor will lead you in the right direction when you start walking around.

Hone is a low-energy device that can run on a single battery for up to six months. It offers a range of more than 150 feet and is expected to retail at $49.95. The co-founders have been building iOS apps for over three years and worked with major clients like Apple (News - Alert) and CACI.
