American General Life Companies Earns Spot on 2012 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America
HOUSTON --(Business Wire)--
American General today announced that it made this year's
InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation's most innovative
users of business technology. The annual list was revealed last night at
a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference.
American General created two mobile applications designed to empower
distribution partners with on-the-go access to fast, customized quotes.
The first mobile application, Quick Quote, serves the organization's
Structured Settlements division and enables agents to use their Apple (News - Alert) or
Android mobile devices to provide quotes to customers anywhere, any
time. Quick Quote is the first technology of its kind released by a life
insurance company within the Structured Settlements market. In addition
to generating immediate quotes, the app provides one-touch calling to
the American General Structured Settlements support team. Quick Quote
has been very well received since its launch, with sales made in a
quicker, more direct, more efficient fashion. Key features of the app
include real time access to interest rates, benefit streams, and lower
administration burdens on agents.
American General was also recognized for its RapidRater tool, a mobile
quoting application for iPhone (News - Alert) and Android smart phone users that allows
agents to create quotes for selling a number of life insurance
solutions. RapidRater was the first in a series of content-rich,
innovative mobile tools offered by American General.
"We are delighted to be included in the 2012 InformationWeek 500," said
Rod Rishel, head of product design and developmentfor American General.
"We developed our suite of mobile apps to meet the needs of our
producers for technology on the move; our producers often close business
on the go. We are committed to providing our producers with resources
that help them effectively serve their customers any time, anywhere."
"The InformationWeek 500 has recognized the most innovative users of
business technology for 24 years, and this year's innovations were
particularly impressive," said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob
Preston. "What the editors looked for are unconventional approaches-new
technologies, new models, new ways of grabbing business opportunities
and solving complex business problems with IT."
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users
of information technology with its annual 500 listing, and also tracks
the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of
America's best-known companies. Past overall winners include PACCAR
Inc., The Vanguard Group, CME Group, National Semiconductor, Con-Way,
and Principal Financial Group. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are
unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation
in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT
spenders.
