Nov 20, 2009 (The Arizona Daily Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The last of four men who admitted robbing seven University of Arizona students during a March home invasion was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison Thursday.
Prosecutors asked Judge Richard Fields of Pima County Superior Court to sentence Diamond J. Taylor, 20, to 7 1/2 years, but he found mitigating factors existed, said defense attorney Richard Bock.
Taylor and three other men walked in through the unlocked back door of a home in the 1200 block of East Grant Road just after midnight March 24, Tucson police said.
Six of the seven residents were held at gunpoint while their home was ransacked and the suspects fled the house with a TV, a laptop computers, cash and jewelry.
One of the victims followed them and pointed the vehicle out to police. Police had been notified of the crime while it was still in progress after one of the victims used the Internet to tell a friend to report what was happening.
Alex Peter Lopez, 18, and Ronnie J. Anderson, 25, are serving three years. Albert Bell III, 24, is serving two years.
